This is a special small clump forming fern that reaches around 40cm in height for me. Known as the Japanese painted fern, it likes a rich, moist, drained soil in semi-shade. It goes to sleep in winter & then in spring its fresh green fronds on dark red stems unfurl & become a silver/pewter colour. A stunning & easy fern to grow. Divisions.
