I am always asked about this plant in spring when visitors see it in the garden. A whorl of four leaves, push through the ground & unfurl purple/black when young, then go a nice shiny dark green. Long tassels of little white flowers appear later. A hardy clumper for woodland conditions in light shade. Not to dry. Height to around 40cm.
